Why the name HORUS?

Horus, the Egyptian God of the sky and falcon-headed man, was considered by many to be the sky itself, containing the sun and the moon—respectively his right and left eye.

The Eye of Horus, an ancient symbol of protection, is the underlying value of our brand.

What is New in HORUS?

After defining our priorities, we started with a blank page to create HORUS. We combined years of experience with flight helmets and deep technical knowledge to bring a unique, market-leading product to life. Using the most modern materials, solutions, and production processes, we improved weight, ventilation, comfort, ergonomics, and noise reduction. HORUS is a truly modular helmet, compatible with a full range of accessories to configure it based on the pilot’s mission.

What accessories are available?

HORUS can be configured from the start or upgraded later. Discover all options on our HORUS Configurator page and the dedicated Spare Parts page to explore the wide range of choices available.

How long do I need to get my new HORUS?

We keep ready-to-go HORUS helmets in stock. However, for custom paint or special integrations, delivery typically takes 4–6 weeks.

How does the customization process work?

Please refer to the Customization page for full details. The process includes a few clear steps to define your project and budget. We offer multiple customization levels to match different needs.

Where is HORUS made?

We proudly design and manufacture HORUS in Italy, sourcing only the highest quality materials and components for both standard and custom helmets.

Where can HORUS be used?

HORUS is designed for pilots worldwide. Its versatile configurations make it suitable for many aircraft types and mission profiles, always ensuring protection, lightness, and comfort.

Where can I buy HORUS?

You can purchase HORUS directly from our website or through selected partners around the globe.

Where can I find more information?

Download our PDF brochure for a complete overview of features, accessories, colors, and configurations.

What is the HORUS operative weight?

We focused heavily on weight optimization. Thanks to advanced composite materials, the basic flight-ready configuration weighs approximately 850g ± 50g—well under 1kg.

Can I integrate the ANR system into HORUS?

Yes, HORUS can integrate our ANR-Bluetooth system with quick disconnect. The helmet already provides strong passive noise attenuation and can be upgraded for active noise reduction.

What is the black module on the back of HORUS?

To boost comfort and noise control, HORUS includes a volume knob (left side) and a CEP module (right side). When ANR isn’t suitable due to high-frequency noise or frequent head movement, the CEP maintains situational awareness and hearing protection. The volume control allows direct radio volume adjustments, bypassing onboard systems.

How do I change the visor?

We designed HORUS for easy field maintenance. The visor can be removed or changed tool-free in minimal time using lightweight, shaped side screws.

What is the warranty on HORUS?

HORUS includes a 12-month limited warranty covering helmet parts developed and produced by Custom Flight Helmets. This excludes third-party electronic parts (e.g., microphones, speakers, cabling) and any misuse or non-intended applications.

HOW TO MEASURE YOUR HEAD

“A perfect-fitting guide.”

The goal of a helmet is to keep your head safe from any accident. It ensures the safety of your head. To lessen injury or provide better protection, you need to select a helmet that is a comfortable fit. A wrong-fitting helmet cannot ensure the safety of the chin strap when tightened.

Getting the right fit

Before you desire to buy any helmet, you must know the accurate size of your head. If you know the exact size, you are then able to buy the best-fitting helmet for you. Here is a great way to get the actual size of the helmet for a comfortable fit:

Your head size plus your head shape equals a comfortable fit.

Head Shape

Each of us has a unique head shape; it is a matter of round, rectangular, and everything in between.

Your mind contour is best detected by looking downwards on the very top of your head. This is not a view that some people are accustomed to, but with a handheld mirror along with a hanging mirror, then you can find a fantastic look all on your own.

Oval heads are skinny and long from front to rear. Typical heads continue to be oval-shaped, however to a lesser level. In the end, you will find round heads, which can be approximately as broad as they’re long.

Different Head Shapes

Here you will get the exaggerated shape of human heads that is viewed from different angles of the head.

  • Oval: It is understood as a long oval which is the general shape of a head.
  • Round: The round shape is wider in the middle, nearly about the temples.
  • Egg: Wide at the top and narrow at the bottom.

Though there are lots of sizes and shapes of human heads, most fall into two basic categories:

  • Very narrow, ‘long oval’ head appearances
  • Very wide ‘round’ head shapes

Some people have a combination of these two categories. The combination of these two shapes has an infinite number of variations.

Check Your Head Shape

Head Size

Measuring your head is very important to have a perfect fit and is not difficult to accomplish, so don’t just assume!

The best way to measure your head is to have a soft tailor band available. If you do not own one, ask someone who might. If this fails, wrap a string around your head, mark the point it meets, and then lay the string flat to measure it.

You want to measure your head circumference at the most significant point—generally around eyebrow level. Once you’ve got a number, consult the sizing chart to determine where you fit.

ADULT HELMETS

  • M: 54.0 - 57.0 CM
  • L: 57.1 - 60.0 CM
  • XL: 60.1 - 63.0 CM

Inches / CM / Hat Size

  • 21 1/4 — 54 CM — 6 3/4
  • 21 5/8 — 54.9 CM — 6 7/8
  • 22 — 55.9 CM — 7
  • 22 3/8 — 56.8 CM — 7 1/8
  • 22 3/4 — 57.8 CM — 7 1/4
  • 23 1/8 — 58.7 CM — 7 3/8
  • 23 7/8 — 60.6 CM — 7 5/8
  • 24 1/4 — 61.6 CM — 7 3/4
  • 23 3/4 — 62.9 CM — 7 5/8

How to take an exact measurement of your head size

You have to take a small metal tape or cloth tape to confirm the measurement. If possible, have someone assist you.

  • Measure the fullest part of your head above the ears; measure the forehead.
  • Measure about one inch above the eyebrows or at the largest possible circumference.
  • Measure the length of your head from the front to the back.
  • Measure the width of your head from one ear to the other.

Head Sizing Guide

Important Tips

  • Different brands have different sizing charts. Fitting may vary due to shell size, cheek pads, and interior padding.
  • The best fit is always achieved by trying the real helmet and testing padding configurations.
  • Always wear the best flight helmet your budget allows. Compare the available models and, if possible, try them on. What looks good in photos might not be comfortable or safe in the air. A helmet is an essential piece of gear that will stay with you through many flight adventures.
